About the event
Last week Don Wormley lost his battle with Cancer. He was not only one of our racers but our friend. Don had been with our racing club for many years. He loved the hobby and enjoyed the cars, the history, and the comradery with his fellow racers. He was one of those guys who didn’t care if he came in last or first, he just had a good time. He was the type of guy who would say a bad day of racing was still a good day. I remember Don a long time ago coming out in the blue lane and said, Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue. He had to say the lane color four times in a row. Don never got upset when he didn’t race well, his car was acting up, or if he was mis-marshalled. Don loved F1 and was a huge Mercedes fan. When Don first started racing, he brought his son Matt with him who he loved racing with. I know that Matt learned a lot from his father. Don was also active with the Boy Scouts of America. If he wasn’t racing on Friday, it was because he was spending time with his family or getting ready for a Scouting activity. Don will be missed by many in our group and our thought and prayers are with him and his family.
